We use ‘Talk for Writing’ at Stukeley –  is not a system or a concept, it is very much a culture. It is effective because it is based on the principles of how children learn.

It essentially involves children and adults rehearsing and learning story (and non-fiction) structures and content through story telling with actions, story mapping and a range of other activities to ensure the children are fully prepared to write themselves. It attempts to ensure that children know what and how they want to write before even picking up a pencil.

Here’s Mr Bakker taking our Governors through the process!
